Thai One On - Day 5

  • Ate delicious breakfast of muesli with yogurt and fresh pineapple, dragon fruit, mango, watermelon, and banana for me, and a ham and cheese Thai omelet for P in a house garage across from our hotel.
  • Picked up after breakfast by Tom for Mae Taeng river rafting trip. Stopped at a market for snacks and a banana fruit shake, then switched vehicles for last bit of crazy pot-hole road. Rode in rickety shell-of-a-truck with barely-there seats to put-in site. Had a blast rafting rapids with guide Ong and floating in river during calm parts. Treated to yummy lunch of pad Thai and fresh pineapple.
  • Dropped off at hotel in late afternoon and walked nearby for hour-long Thai oil massages for a mere $6 each. After massages, masseuses served us delicious ginger tea to enjoy while the rain let up.
  • Dined at random place on Rachdamneon in town on fried frog (first time eating frog), spicy pork sausage and fried fish with tomato sauce -- tasty and fun to try new foods!
  • Stopped for drinks around 10 p.m. on way back. A 6-year-old boy came up to us at the bar with necklaces in hand saying, "10 Baht! 10 Baht! You buy! You buy!" while tickling Patrick's armpit!
