Swaziland - Day 1

  • Walked around camp in the morning, saw trout and frogs in Trout Lake and enjoyed the open field.
  • Drove to Mac Mac Pools for a dip in the FRIGID water. P jumped in from the top ledge, B dove in from the side and I spent 18 minutes gingerly slinking in!
  • Said our goodbyes and vowed to not wait ten years to see each other again!
  • Drove to Malkerns Valley, Swaziland -- among the usual goats and cows, we saw many, many children walking miles (we used the odometer) home from school.
  • Customs was a breeze -- an official barely poked our backpacks in the trunk and sent us on our way.
  • Arrived at Malandela's Bed & Breakfast just after dark and checked in to our fabulous room that had a kitchen, a full bath, a large bedroom and a patio overlooking the gardens.
  • Dined on tasty East African chicken curry and St. George's Oxtail in the restaurant on the premises.
